i'll admit i was never much of a sports fan. i didn't grow up rooting for one team or another, or watch any sport with any regularity as a child. (of course, this could be because i grew up in central new jersey, smack dab between philadelphia and new york, so i didn't have any real allegiance to a set of teams, really).
but last year, the phillies totally won my heart. they turned me not only into a phillies fan, but into a (novice) baseball fan. erik and i lucked into tickets for the last half of the last game of the world series last year (you'll remember they had to call game 5 for weather and postpone the last three innings for two days, and the city waited with baited breath.) watching the winning pitch of a championship game that the city had been waiting a long 28 years for was fantastic. how could i not love the phillies?
this post season, it's been fun watching the city show its phillies spirit - my favorite so far has been my friend marisa's post on the totally adorable phillies themed sweets popping up around the city at uwishunu.
ps. i should also note, for the record, that cute erik is a yankees fan. he sees no problem rooting for the phils during the regular season since they're in different leagues, but now he's in trouble. he says he's cheering for the yankees during the series. we'll see...
