oh my oh my. lately, i've been completely envious of some of the craft spaces i've come across. i can't help but feel my heart break a little when i think of how displeased i am with my little crafty room, especially when compared to how happy the rest of my house makes me. it's only fitting that i should have a room when i can walk in and want to make things, right?
right.
(glad we've agreed.)
in the meanwhile, here are some of the rooms i've been eyeing lately.
- knit happens' fabulous yarn storage space
- giant dwarf's beautiful work space in this video, courtesy the storque
- circaceramics' drool-worthy chicago studio (i mean, i don't do ceramics and this kind of thing wouldn't fit in my house, but their space is still pretty fantastic)
- my first etsy-friend, susan of tvtrayart, has well organized space in her new house
- maryink's studio awesomeness (and, in searching flickr for etsy workspaces i might have missed, i came across this old photo - the little corner i claimed in my old apartment, pre-housebuying... what i wouldn't give for high ceilings again...)
- erinscissorhands of yellow canoe / operation papercut has a great little display area in her studio
so many etsyans just have such great spaces for making, and i don't think it's a coincidence that these same etsyans make such gorgeous things everyday.
i just got off the phone with my master carpenter (aka, my dad), and we talked about re-dry-walling up the old closet opening, shelving systems and dark bamboo flooring. the one thing i totally haven't begun thinking about yet is paint colors... hmmm... in-progress and after-photos will certainly be posted.
